Ok so im gonna give linux another go. I have tried a couple of distro's in the past but always gone back to Microsoft as I was too lazy to learn a new OS. But like many I am just about getting sick of microsoft now, ive been using XP since the day it came out and yes it works fine and most of the time it works properly but ive been using this for like 6 years or more and I think im well in need of an upgrade. But upgrading to Vista is a big no no for me. I dont like it, its not stable doesnt run things i want it to and i just plain dont like it.

Anyway this leads me back to linux, i really dont know what distro to go for. I have tried pc linux, ubuntu and openSUSE. I want a powerful desktop and lots of features but i just dont know what one to go for. What is the most common one? It has to be reasonably easy to use but no so easy to use that it has no decent features.

Your help with the would be much appreciated

I would suggest you start out with Ubuntu, or if you prefer a Windows-style interface to a Mac-style interface [although there is no close resemblance], Kubuntu.

Yeah I'm using Ubuntu... I tried out a few other ones, but found this to be the best.

And the newest version out is 8.04 Alpha 5... But I'm not sure how stable it is atm...

I installed ubuntu as my only operating system, but soon found out i didnt know enough about it to use it as my main OS. So ive gone back to vista and use virtualbox to run ubuntu on Vista. And before anyone says why vista, my laptop will not run XP despite numerous tries

yeahh.. When I switched completely over to Ubuntu.. I couldn't even pronounce it! haha
So I kinda thew my self in the deep end, and I'm slowly learning now.. still struggle with a few things
