Why is it a joke amongst the heavy linux guys here to say that WINE stands for "Wine Is Not an Emulator" ?

well apparently when win says its an emulator for windows, they mean, it isnt?

lol although i do think i saw that wine is not an emulator thing on winehq. so lol, they prolly got it from there. hey how is fedora? is it pretty much the same as ubuntu? haha my computer said it was going to take 5 hours to download the iso for the live cd, so i was like...screw that.

I have no idea but why, and I don't ask. Though all of them say it and in the same breath recommend something else if you want to play games...it's not VMWare, the name escapes me right now, though.

Firdora I think is gnome based (which just makes it gay looking) - but it's not as versatile as Kubuntu/Ubuntu either.

I tried Fedora, but I personally thought Ubuntu was better out of the two. I'm currently trying out Sabayon right now which seems to have great hardware support, comes with a few 3D games and you can pick either KDE or Gnome. It's probably not the best choice for Linux newbies though.

Yeah, that seems to be the big catch.

My friend who was always a big Ubuntu user said screw ubuntu/kubuntu - he's sick of debugging them, he hates them now, he's using a distro called archlinux, but he said it's not exactly newbie friendly, he said it's sorta like gentu in terms of installation and usage hardness.

Kubuntu seems to be the best system for newbies. Also, obviously hardware support is a main concern.

I think I would take a less user friendly one in return for more hardware support.

I would want my business to grow , and if i have to do "shady" things ..

Just be sure to back up anything important before you make any changes to the structure of your hard drive partitions.

By the way, welcome to CF. I hope you'll be visiting here often in the future.
