Question ubuntu wireless

hello,
i am new to linux i just installed ubuntu onto a spare computer i had. it didnt have wireless so i baught a netgear wg311 wireless pci card.
when i opened it up it told me to install the cd first. my computer couldnt read the cd. Is that because it is a windows cd in a linux computer?
so then i took the cd out and put the pci card in and started the computer up. it didnt recognize that either.
could anyone help me, i have no clue what to do.

i dont know if this matters, but it is a..
dell dimension xps t550
20gb hard drive
i dont know how much ram but im pretty sure its enough

ANY help would be greatly appreciated

I have a similar problem. I believe it is solved by a thing called ndsiwrapper and a couple of other nodes. If you can figure it out, I would like to know how.
