Default Ubuntu and XP

Can anybody tell me how to dual-boot xp and ubuntu. I've done a lot of web searching, but all of them are confusing. Can someone tell me a simple way to do so. I'm a linux n00b, so bear with me. TIA

Exclamation MBR Backup

Hay jsmith, just a quick piece of advice in regards to the dual-boot. If ever you are going to wipe Ubuntu from the HDD, and switch back to just using Windows, BEFORE you remove Ubuntu you will need to backup your Boot.ini file. This is the MBR.

Currently, when you start your PC, you should be given a screen to choose between OS's. Correct? If you notice, Ubuntu is at the top of the list -- your PC is going to look for Ubuntu FIRST, and if it can't find it you'll be given an error message. You will not be able to access Windows.

I wrote a quick fix on this problem in this thread. You may want to write this info down and save it next to your Win XP CD. Here's the thread: Repair MBR after Dual Boot Removal

By the way, glad to hear you successfully installed.

Thank you for your advice. I used your video to get the dual-boot up and running. Once I boot back into XP (I'm in ubuntu now), I'll save that in my favorites.
