Default broadband issues

hi all, first of all id like to say sorry if there is a simular thread out there, i am currently using my mob phone which is very slow and difficult to navigate. ok my problem is this, i switched to talk talk pro and on the activation date i could not connect/recieve broadband, although the phone worked fine. after a week of battling technical support the line was repaired and i connected for the first time. I experienced amazing high speed broaband. I decided to move the d link router to a more convienent spot. after the router setup i am now back in square one with no adsl or internet light, the microfilters are fitted and i even moved the router back to the original socket but no joy. before i get stuck into customer service again i thought i would share this story to see if i could tackle this problem myself with your kind help and advice, thanks and cheers for reading!

Is this a wired network or wireless? I assume you are in the UK. Set up should be straight forward and therefore you should be telling the isp to get it working or you will take your business elsewhere.

i am with talk talk to i suggest you try to log of for 24 hours because i seem to have a simialr issue and it worked fine after for me. but i think ringing them up would be alot better since they can analyse if there is any network issues regarding your connection

Hi,

cheers for the reply, the only reason i havent taken my business elsewhere is because when i was connected i have never experienced such a fast service, I downloaded a flight simulator add on in 4 minutes where it would normally take 30! but yea back to the issue an internet connection should not completly cut off if the modem is turned off, but yea fresh interigations await if not move on. any recomendations? cheers!

sorry forgot to mention when you mean logged off would that just be turning the modem off? in the end it sounds like their problem,

I want the modem connected to one of the extension sockets in the house and their saying to use the master socket which is very unsuitable, even tho it is a wireless service my dads computer isnt equiped so we need it hitched up by cable. With my previous provider onetel, setup from the extensions was not a problem so yea wierd times. I was thinking of just connecting it up from the extension sockets and let on to them im using the master socket so they can configure it to work again but knowing myself its never that simple.

The modem from my ISP started to die so they sent me a new one which is wireless. Being wireless didn't matter as it still has the sockets for four hardwire items. Me being curious, I bought a USB wireless receiver for my desktop puter and plugged the other puter upstairs and the printer into the modem. So now I have my desktop wireless and all the others hardwired.

You say your place is hardwired so the phone line should go into the modem and the your puters and printer should plug into the ouputs. I don't think you should lneed any additional equipment to make it work. If it is setup as I described then you should get help from your provider.
