Default Wireless

Ok, this situation has stumped me, so i came here becuse im sure i will get some good ideas.

Anyways, i have this hp laptop,HPPavillion dv1000. It had alot of shit on it, and the computer ran ridiculously slow. So what i did, was format tha bitch. After i was done formatting and installing XP back on it, I tried to access the internet and ofcourse.... it doesnt work. The internal PCI card that it has is Realtek RTL8139/810x Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. So thinking, "oh this shouldnt be that big of a deal, ill just go to the realtek site and download the driver for it." So i does that right? And ofcourse.... it still doesnt work, even after updating the computer with automatic windows updates, AND getting the exact driver from the realtek site. On a side not, before i formatted it, the wireless internet WAS working. Im pretty stumped right now, so any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I've always hated wireless and laptops.

After installing the wireless drivers, does it say that they are installed correctly in your device manager?

And were these the drivers that you installed? : HP Pavilion dv1000 drivers for Windows XP

He says he got it from the Realtek site, so you got it here right?

Check in your device manager and see if it is under unknown or where it should be and wether or not it says its functional.

If all SEEMS ok, then try uninstalling it and trying the link Jam provided.

If not, provide us with a little more detail, expanding upon "it doesnt work" and then maybe one of us can identify the problem

Thank you JAM for helping me. Instead of going for the HP driver, i whent for the Realtek driver since this laptop has a Realtek card. Thanks again for your help. Thank you lee.holt for also chiming in with help.
