How old is your router? It sounds like it is not configured to handle the changes MS made to the VISTA network stack. You may try looking to see if there is a firmware upgrade to your hardware to allow your vista machine to operate properly.
Whatever you decide, let others here know what you did to make things work. Helping others is the price of help (in it's cheapest form).
