I'm having some problems with my router and its compatibility with the PS3. Ever few days I have to reset the router to play online. I was wondering if there was something that I could use to like receive the signal and them somehow convert it into a Ethernet plug so I could plug it into the ethernet port instead of working wireless.

Well in order for me to help you i need the following:

Make/model of you router
how you connect to the PS3
What hardware/material are you currently using to connect to the internet


Please provide these three things and i will gladly be able to help you.

Also, question, you say that you want to connect so its NOT wirelss? so does that mean you are playing online with your PS3 via wireless? if so please specify.

I have a D-Link DI-624 that I connect to using my NetGear WG311 wireless card on my desktop. The PS3 I don't know what it uses to connect. Yes, I'm using Call of Duty 4 to play online through my wireless network, but I've heard that if I work through an Ethernet cord, it eliminates all the bugs for internet play.

Yes, you are correct. Get a gold plated Crossover cable the reason i say gold, is becuase any other plating like copper etc... will give you some interference later on in the future as you use it more and more. Ive tried all of these things. You want to connect the crossover cable to an open ethernet port in your desktop. Then im not sure if it varies, for to connect to xbox live, you need to turn off windows firewall otherwise it wont let connection through. So first try going online with the windows firewall on and if that doesnt work try turning it off and connecting and it should work. Unless you live somewhere humid, don't bother with the expense of gold plated connectors - consider instead using a higher cable standard such as CAT6.

Well ash really regardless of the whether around the person. How do you figure that gold plated is expensive and a waste of time? The gold-plated crossover cable that i purchased that was a 22FT cable was only 15$ And im sure there wouldnt be much of a hassle going online and buying one from newegg or wherever for even LESS than i payed. Having a gold plated wire will rule out ALL interference to ever be obtained by connections and host around the area and it will be mainly an investment:
Get a gold plated wire; It lasts for more years and still provides the best quality.
Get something different like copper or CAT6; will provide some sort of quality and protection with less interference but for how long and how much more effiecient than gold plated?
Im just putting this out there from experiance with over 23 different cables in my house with about 4 different connections

The plating of the connectors won't remove interference that is picked up via the cable itself.
