Default getting network connections info back

I just bought a new internal hard drive, and replaced my old motherboard. I want to install the new drive and re-install windows xp professional, so I can wipe out all my stuff and start off fresh. (I have a external hard drive with all my important stuff that I will put back on once the new install is done) I have two computers connected for DSL internet, and I wanna know what I need to go about doing before I wipe everything out as far as networking info goes. I didn't configured all this stuff before, a friend of mine did it. I know a little about networking, but I'm not a expert, and I wanna try and do it myself, but not sure if there is any info that I need to write down to apply to the new connection once the xp install is complete.

compjay07, it would be appreciated if you could post in threads other than your own before you request more help. Thank you in advance.
