Ive had very few problems as well with my wireless router - internet very slow on a few occassions but Ive put this down to my ISP. My parents have just moved and Ive tried to encourage them to get a wireless set up this time but they are very wary of it as well.

before i got wireless i used to have my dad's computer and the modem downstairs and another computer in my bedroom upstairs. What we did was we ran a long Ethernet cable behind the furniture along the floor and secured it down with the same brackets they use to install cable tv wires, and then we drilled a hole through the ceiling of the coat closet upstairs into my bedroom closet witch happened to be right above it, haha. I don't know if your house is setup like this or if you can even drill a hole into your ceiling w/o getting evicted, haha. but thats what we did until i bought a wireless router.

Ive recently installed a wireless setup to my bedroom utilitzing Linxsys "N" model router and an "N" model PCI card. VERY easy step by step instructions. Make sure it has WAP security features and you shouldnt have a problem.

There is another option that you could use, I don't know how good they work due to the fact that I haven't used it yet. You can get (I forget what they are called) these things that use your exsisting wireing with these boxes you plug in to an outlet and have your data transfer through your current wire. You just put one near your wired router and one near the other computer and plug it in to the box and you have a wired network without running anymore cables.

Well thanks for all the replys.

It sounds like getting wireless is a good idea with the WAP Security Settings?

Where shall i get these from?

Lee.
