Default Can't see my othe computers....

I have 3 pc's in my house. 2 desktops and 1 laptop. A custom made pc is wired to a Belkin G wireless router and the laptop and E-Machine are wireless. About a month agao I could see all 3 pc's from each other and transfer files w/o a problem btwn all 3. Like I said last month this stopped. The Laptop and the e-machine can see all 3 pc's but can only transfer files btwn each other. On the custom made pc I can't see either the laptop or e-machine. I have tried everything I know. I am using McAfee Security Center on the custon pc. I tried turning off the firewall and still the same results. I have the router on DHCP and tried going static IP's as well. Same result. If anybody can think of something I would appreciate it.

This could well be due to the workgroups of these computers getting changed somehow - are they all on Windows XP?

Was the McAfee Security center a recent addition? It does sound like it is blocking the proper connections. My guess is, that it closed all the ports, and won't reopen them, unless you specifically tell it to do so. Turning it off will not always open up the ports. So you should check out your Security Center Control Panel, and see what settings would allow you to open port 445 (both TCP and UDP). This should be in TOOLS>> PORT PERMISSIONS (PROGRAM PERMISSIONS)

It will probably state that Microsoft Directory Server Port 445 is blocked. Unblock this port.

My father uses that software (I do not), so some specific locations were relayed from him. So please let us know if it works out well.

Tried that and still didn't work. If you or anyone eles has any other ideas I would love to hear them and be willing to try them.

I would suggest totally removing Maca£ee from the computer, rebooting all the computers and the router, and seeing if this makes any difference.

I was recently having a similar issue, but I was able to gain access to my other comp by changing the firewall settings on each computer. I have a wireless laptop with vista and a desktop with xp wired to the router. I had to change the firewall settings on both comps to get them to see each other. I know you said you changed firewall settings, but did you make sure for each comp? Just trying to help. This was my first network experience, so I don't know much
