| aright, ive looked all over google, for information about this, and i cant find a thing, so maybe you guys can help me out. I have windows vista, and an HP s7600n Desktop, conected to a wireless internet connection which is connected to a DSL Modem downstairs. When i first got my computer last year the guys at geek squad came in to hook up the internet, and it worked fine.but i got my computer at christmas time so it came with the free vista upgrade. So i figured id take the vista upgrade when it came out. so anyways heres my problem. everytime i try to acess somthing that uses alot of memory, like lets say the profile editor on myspace, my wireless internet disconnects, and i cant reconnect unless i do the microsoft thing and shut down my computer. when i got vista i had to reinstall the wirless internet, but like i said ive read other forums around the web and followed some of their advice. the connection is made to be the main connection, so it shouldnt try to reconnect to another connection if theres one availible and it doesnt anyway so that doesnt matter. so ever since ive "upgraded" to vista my internet has been completely nuts. can any of u guys help me out? btw, sorry this post is so long, and sorry i used the word connect in every -tense about a billion times thanks though... |

| Hi madjamaicansays, Firstly, I'd like to welcome to CompuForums - it's good to have you here. I hope you will be on the board for a long time, and if there is anything I can do to make your experience better please let me know. We are here to help you, so it would be appreciated if you could help us by posting in threads as well as your own. By doing so, you are helping to keep this site running in the future, and we will respond to your thread faster too. If you can't help us, then we can't help you When you installed Vista - did you install a wireless driver too? And you might not want to let "The Geek Squad" anywhere near your IT equipment again unless you want it in a worse state once they have left

| If you could give me the model number of your computer I can find the driver you'll need to install. Do you use a USB dongle to connect to the router, or was the wireless included with the PC? Also do you have any other computers that you can connect to the network and test it out with?

| Try this driver download for HP. Download it, install it and see if it helps fix the problem. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/softwar...-2/sp26909.exe Just to let you know - we will not be able to continue to help you if you can't post in other people's threads or become a premium member. You don't need to be a computer expert to be able to post - we have an off topic section too.

Just read your post and you may want to know that Vista requires more memory than XP. Most people who upgrade from XP to Vista often have problems afterword. Part of the reason is the 512MB or ram which was fine for XP is not good enought for Vista. If you have Vista and have less than 1GB of ram you are going to constantly have problems or the pc is just going to run very slow. Since there are a number of sites on the web where you can get a good deal on memory, I would recommend tring to get at least 1GB of ram if you don't have it already. If you can afford it, running Vista w/2GB plus a video card with 256 MB of ram or larger should help alot. |
