First, understand the components you have all do different things.

The Motorola (assuming Surfboard) is a [Cable] Modem.

The Netgear is a Wireless Router

So, what you need to do is find the manual for your wireless router and find the default IP address for it. I can't recall what Netgear's default IP's are, but it will say in the manual. Then you need to access that IP address via your browser and configure it accordingly.

You don't need to use the Netgear drivers on your client PC, as most wireless routers are standardized and don't require proprietary software.

For proper troubleshooting, please do the following:
1. Click Start > Run, and paste this command and press enter:
Code:
ipconfig /all >> c:/ipconfig.txt
2. Then do this one:
Code:
notepad.exe c:/ipconfig.txt
3. Copy the entire contents of that file, and paste it here so we can look at the network configuration.

Alright, your IP address is 192.168.1.2 and your router IP address is 192.168.1.1. This probably means as you mentioned, that you successfully made a connection to your wireless router.

Now, go to http://192.168.1.1/ and login to it. (The default password will be included in your documentation). Then you will need to configure it to connect to your cable modem. 99% of the time, you will only need "automatic" or "DHCP" setup.

Third, check to make sure the Ethernet wire is correctly plugged into the "WAN" or "Internet" port of your wireless router and the other end is into the "LAN" Ethernet port on the cable modem.

After connecting, unplug the power cord from the modem, for about 2 minutes and plug it back in. You should now be able to go online.

I would probably contact the broadband provider and ask for their assistance, specifically, setting up a router to connect to the internet over their network.

He's with the UK cable monopoly I'm currently with [until 1st November when they collect the modem and decoder], and you pay 25p[ence] premium rate per minute to have your call redirected to an Indian script reader... however, it might be his only option. This number is 0906 212 1111 - he may be able to find a cheaper number here:
