Default Wireless Network Cards

Can anyone suggest any Network Cards they use? its about 10 meters and 1 wall away from the router and my net speed tops out at about 7MB. Also anyone know of any hardware (apart from the official xbox 360 one) that will allow me to use my Xbox 360 wireless'ly' for a decent price?

Thanks

For the first question... is it a laptop or a desktop that you need a card for, and how old is it? There are several for laptops and desktops, depending on your motherboard / computer.

What country are you in? Based on your IP, I assume that you are in England. Would you be willing to buy on eBay? If so, I'll try and find a decent one at a good price. Most big brand cards tend to work fine, however. It is useful to have one with a removable / extendable antenna, as your PC tends to generate a lot of radio interferance and its usually low down on the floor too.

Dont think that would do the job, here is Microsofts official product: Xbox.com | Xbox 360 - Xbox 360â„¢ Wireless Networking Adapter. Its quite pricey, I can get one for around £60 inc del but thats pretty pricey when surely I can get something which isnt a big make for cheaper?

Depending on what you want, you might want to just buy a long CAT 5e Ethernet cord. I can make my own, but you can usually get one for a good deal at a local computer shop. Just give them the measurement (assumed you run the wire along the baseboards to your router).

Im looking for wireless, wires are messy, and will have to go about 20 meters, which will make the speed worse due to more resistance?

Hardly. Ethernet cables are known to lose their signal due to attenuation at around 300 Meters. I'm American, so pardon me for not knowing my metrics all too well.

Wires don't have to be messy. You can run them along the baseboard (where the carpet meets the wall) and tuck them in nicely and no one sees them. :-)

Sidenote: Google says 20 meters = 65.6167979 feet and 300 meters = 984.251969 feet.
