Have you tried right-clicking the network icon and clicking "Repair"?

Also - as I have said, we shall not continue to help you if you do nothing but take advice here. Post in some other threads as well as your own.

Posting in the shoutbox doesn't help much to this point stated by Ash since shoutbox posts doesn't add to post count. Helping others and being active in other(s) threads show that you are here for giving help as well as recieving it.

As for the question; Are you sure that your cable through the modem to the computer works?
Put a hub between the modem and your computer that you run the cable through and see if it helps. Or you could try to re-install your network card with the drivers that came with it. (or just use the win cd.)

There is a number of things you can do to fix it. they recommend doing the following:

-download this patch: Download details: Update for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB884020)

-download and run Winsock XP: WinSock XP Fix download and review - fix XP internet connectivity from SnapFiles

-Check your firewall settings in your router

I tried all these when I had this problem, and none of them workedfor me, but this is what Microsoft recommends you do.

Well, there are in fact too many people who just register to ask one or two questions and then never sign in again. Not much you can do but delete them at some point, right?
