| Ok. I'm not computer savy so ill try the best i can. We have a home network. My roomie is pretty comp savy. I play World of Warcraft and i think he blocked me from connecting. I can still browse the Internet and use my VoIP. This has happened a couple of times and when he gets home all of a sudden it starts working. Is it possible for someone to block me from connecting to the WoW servers and still use the Internet? If this is possible can i fix it? |

| Hi there AndrewRivers , Firstly, welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you can visit our forum often in the future and post - rather than just receiving our help and advice, and then never visiting again. We provide our help for free, and all we ask in return is that you participate in our forum and refer your friends, or consider a premium membership. What is the exact error that comes up? [a screenshot will be helpful] How long have you been having these issues? What have you tried in order to fix this so far? What sort of network setup do you have, and who provides your internet access?

| Yes I am running XP. And we do have a firewall. How would i go about setting WoW as an exception? |

| It may be the software firewall, but if you have a router then it's probably been blocked on there. As I said earlier, what is the exact error that comes up? [a screenshot will be helpful]

| Have you checked your firewall setings like Ash stated. It maybe denying connection to their server.

| How is your network setup - are you using a router [wireless or wired]? If so, please let me know the make and model number so I can do a little research and give you some instructions to try and fix this [which vary from router to router]

| Well, this is probably the simplest solution--why don't you just ask your roommate? They're probably best-suited to help you out with this since they are physically there, and it might just be an incorrectly adjusted setting. Otherwise, check the software firewall on your computer to make sure all the exceptions are there (or just try turning it off the next time you play WOW). And if that doesn't work, then ask your roomie for the username/password for the router (interesting to see what they do).
