Unhappy wireless problems

ok, this is probably hard to diagnose without looking at the settings urself, but im having trouble getting on to a new wireless network.

i have been using one wireless network with no problems at all, and have just got permission to use a free one, that belongs to a friend, it will connect fine, but will not let me access the internet.
the strange thing is that i am able to connect to skype, which obviously means that the connection is fine.

the settings have not been changed since using the other wireless network, and that worked fine on the internet browser.

any ideas anyone?

Hmm... this *might* require web-based authorisation but that might not be working properly. What is the SSID [name] of the network? Generally networks like these will have something in the SSID to tell you this.

it a private one for a business, that we recently set up, another friend in a shop a few doors down set up one 2 with the same man that did the first one, so theyre set up the same, and i can get on that one! soo confusing! to be honest i dont know what im expecting anyone to say on here, i think i need to take it in somewhere, so they can actually fiddle around with it.

OK, this might be a DNS problem.
To check whether it is, do this
1) Click Start, then Run.
2) Type in 'cmd' [no quote marks] and then hit Enter.
3) At the DOS prompt that comes up, firstly enter 'ping 212.58.224.131' [again no quotes] and then enter.
Please confirm that there are 4 entries that start with 'Reply from 212.58.224.131...'

Now, do the same as above, except this time instead of entering '212.58.224.131', enter 'bbc.co.uk', and describe what appears and whether it's the same as above.

This sounds to me like it's a DNS problem. Firstly when connected to the network, try right-Clicking the Wireless icon and clicking Repair - and see if the problems continue. However, DNS issues are usually very easy to fix - just be aware that the problem could be down to the router, rather than your PC. See if others have the same problems.
