| Hi I am having problems connecting my laptop using the wireless connection. No settings have been changed yet it wont allow the connection. I have right clicked on the wireless icon and then selected View Available Wireless Networks. This has brought up the menu showing my router. When I click on this to connect it pauses for about 1 minute then says connected but with limited or no connectivity. Any tips or advice please????? |

| Hi there Damski007, Firstly welcome to CompuForums, I hope that you can stick around and post here rather than vanish, never to return once we've given you our advice which is a really unfair thing to do. This sounds to me like a problem with the router itself, probably a bad setting. What manufacturer and model is it, and does it have a Reset button on the back or bottom?

| Hi Ashley Thanks for the welcome and don't worry, with the number of problems my laptop suffers from I'm sure I will be back very often!!!!! The router is a Belkin g router. Model #FSD7632-4. It has a reset button on the back. |

| You might be able to fix it by hooking your laptop up to one of the ethernet ports of the router, but it would be easier for you to simply reset all the settings to factory defaults. To do this, unplug the router's power cable. Hold the reset button on the back of the wireless router before connecting the power again and connect the power with it still held down then continuing to hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Release it, unplug and replug the power again and give the router a while. Then the default SSID [belkin54g] and unencrypted status should show up on your computer. Use the router's configuration pages, which should be located at http://192.168.2.1 to set it up again, ensuring you are using WPA encryption.
