| How do you get internet access? You can share internet access between the laptop and the desktop if they both have an Ethernet port, but a cable will have to be connected between the two. Wireless internet access might be more convenient for you, but you'll need a modem with an Ethernet port to use a wireless router.

| An Ethernet port and network port are synonymous - as long as you have one on both computers, it will be easy to connect them and share internet access.

| As long as both computers are running XP, all you need to do is connect the two and run the Network Setup Wizard on one of them [in Control Panel, under Classic View]. Just make sure both computers are under the same workgroup [Windows Logo Key+Pause/Break, Computer Name, Change button].

| No problem, we're here to help I hope you can help us by posting here often and referring friends. Remote Desktop is a great feature of XP, but if you're running home you can try an alternative such as UltraVNC [Google for it] or even LogMeIn.com to use your computer over an internet connection.
