Default [SOLVED] Delayed Write failure when saving ....

Hi guys and gals,

Wonder if you have any super ideas on this little gem of a problem.
Laptop running 1gig of Ram, using a 100mb LAN connection gets a delayed write error, lost data, save failuere message when saving largeish (as in 2.7MB) across the network to a shared drive.
So far i have.....(deep breath) reinstalled office 03 and updated to SP2, updated Windows to latest SP renewals and installed all latest updates. Installed latest IBM/Lenovo update client and updated the drivers, HDD manager, network configs and drivers, firmware updates have been applied across the board (no pun intended) and the BIOS has been updated to latest version. The network adaptors have been uninstalled and reinstalled, the session manager\memory Managment reg entry has been edited, the local drive has had write cache on the disc disabled and everything else in general works fine, (deep breath, puff pant need a kip after that LOL)
Heres the orginal error log:

This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing the headache

UPDATE: still no further along with this, although might be nearer a resolution when i get the laptop on the IT desk and edit some more registry entries.
Im still open to ideas if any of you little brainiacs have any.

I see this problem often. When I use VPN connection and load Outlook because my archive folder is stored on a shared drive housed at work.

Your problem could be network congestion? Have you taken a look at your routers and see there are many collisions? You might have a bad cable as well.

Hi Jordan, thanks for the reply.

The cable has been changed for a brand new one, and the network has been tested fine. When trying another laptop in the same wall port the error is NOT repeated, but if we use the original laptop in another wall port, say in another office, the same error occurs....this being the case im 99.99% certain the problem lays with the laptop.

Having said that, the user does use very large files, and often has a few open at the same time....could be down to user error after all...but then accountants outrank IT Support Analysts when it comes to these things dont they? , well the think they do in thsi company anyway ...till we stop helping and they cant do anything that is...

Moderation people,

This thread can be closed if you like, solved, whatever. if your interested resolution was to stop the user opening 12mb excel files up to 12 times......muppet!

and just to shut them up we replaced the laptop, rebuilt it from factory settings, and guess what.......it works fine now!

cheers
