Default Belkin router F5D723-454G signal disconnected

Hello! I had some success before with connecting to my Belkin router but just lately, the signal has been very weak! I have been receiving something like 12Mbps/sec and sometimes it would be disconnected and says "little or no connection". I have recently also set up a WPA password for this......

Thanks

I've experienced the same problems in the past with my Belkin router [same model] - even after Belkin replaced it under their warranty.

I took it back to the store and they gave me a replacement - which had a different version number. The coverage is much better with this one. WPA should not affect coverage.

One thing though - how close are you to the router, and are you above or below it?

Default Belkin router

The router is not too far away. We have a single storey house and the main pc is in the study room while the router is in the lounge. I am really naive on this but what do you mean by above or below it? The main router in my room is hooked on a wall so it is transmitting signal that is higher than the recipient router. I hope this sounds sense. Thanks

You mention a "receipiant router" - are you using a repeater, or do you mean wireless card / computer?

When the router is lower than the client's antenna, it can often cause signal problems. Also - if you are too close to the router you may have issues.

You might want to try not having it on the wall - instead, placed on a desk or shelf, for example. The wall may be asorbing or reflecting the radio waves, rather than letting them pass through.

Belkins not that good. The best are netgear and linksys. I have used belkin which i got rid off no use, then netgear and now on linksys they are the best. Offer free technical support, free replacement if faulty. So i just stick with them. Belkings a bit dogy.!

Default belkin router

Thanks! I just need to ask how to setup a network infrastructure point as I have forgotten how to do this... I was surprised that my router recently pick up my neighbour's signal instead of mine.... LOL

Default ip address is weird

Another problem with my belkin router that I have experienced recently is that for some reason, my ip address has changed from the usual 192.168..... to 210....? and my belkin's default page is missing! Can't access it... any ideas guys?

Thanks!

p.s. I even tried rebooting the pc, modem and router. I even unplugged it but to no avail!

Yes, on most PCs and routers you can change the MAC address.
