| im setting a home network to share files through my router. My 1st computer has xp pro and my 2nd has xp home. In my network place from my 1st computer i cant see the shared files from my second computer i can see the shared files from my first computer. Anyone know why? |

| Have you enabled File Sharing? [under your firewall]. Also, check that both computers have the same workgroup. To check this, press the Windows Logo Key and Pause/Break, click the "Computer Name" tab then the "Change" button at the bottom-right. In the box that appears, ensure that both computers have a different host name, but the same workgroup. Save and restart both computers and try again.

| i did those steps. In my network places i go to workgroups>home> when i try to open my other computer i get this messeage: Quote:

| Hmm - did you check that both workgroups were the same? It could be that file sharing is disabled on the other computer.

| The computer's operating system makes no difference about the network. What firewall software are you using, and have you tried disabling it briefly on both computers?

I tried what u said and i shut them down and tried sharing but still get the same messeage. ________________________ This user added the following: ________________________ after hours of search i found the solution. 1. In the right pane, double-click restrictanonymous. 4. Make sure that the value in the Value data box is set to 0, and then click OK. 5. Close Registry Editor. 6. Restart the computer.
