Default Wireless router signal speed question

I have two PC's in my house, and one of them is currently using a wireless connection. When I mouse over the network icon on the desktop, it says that my signal strength is good, and it is receiving 11mbps. Whenever I try to play an MMO such as Vanguard or WoW, I constantly get disconnected from the server. I was wondering if this could be beause of my signal speed, or if there could be any other problems.

Hi there AceOfSpades2100,

Firstly , welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you can visit our forum often in the future and post - rather than just receive our advice, fix your problem and then disappear - doing so is unfair and considered rude, particularly to those who have helped you. We provide our help for free, and all we ask in return is that you participate in our forum and refer your friends, or consider a premium membership.

Firstly - can you tell us if both your computer and your wireless router are Wireless-G or not? You should be seeing 54mbps unless you are running on older, Wireless-B hardware.

My router is an old Linksys wireless-b router, I'm not sure how to find out what kind my computer is, but it is brand new if that helps.

Oh, and I will definetly be staying around and posting in the future. I like these forums

This might be a stupid question, but are you using legal copies of the games? If not, then the server will kick you off.

If this isn't the problem, have you check your firewall on your computer to make sure it is not blocking the program? Also make sure to check the firewall on your router to make sure the correct ports are open on the router--I think you should be able to find out (a) how to do this with your router onine, and (b) which ports should be open for the different games.

How soon do you get bumped from the server? Are you able to play at all? If not, then likely it's a port-forwarding issue (that's my experience anyway).
