| Hi there jat, Firstly , welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you can visit our forum often in the future and post - rather than just receive our advice, fix your problem and then disappear - doing so is unfair and considered rude, particularly to those who have helped you. We provide our help for free, and all we ask in return is that you participate in our forum and refer your friends, or consider a premium membership. Please describe your current setup first - are both your main computer and laptop connected to the router? And is it a wireless router? Finally, what is the model number of your printer, and does your router have a USB port? What country you live in would also be useful for us to know.

| Hmm - do you mind the main computer that the printer is connected to being on while you need to print, or do you need a solution that lets you print without using the computer? [may cost quite a bit] And just to check - when you say router, do you mean wireless router or a wireless access point connected to a router? There is a difference between the two

| So - just to clarify once more - does your ADSL router also provide a wireless signal, or is the wireless signal from a separate access point connected to it? As I said - a router is not a device that provides wireless networking - a wireless router is. You can either print from the laptop to the printer via another computer on your network that's connected to the printer, or purchase a separate device that allows you to do it without having a computer running.

| Right then - so are you happy to leave the computer the printer is connected to on while you need to print, or do you want a seperate solution [which could could cost a few quid]

| OK, that would be easy to set up and won't cost you anything. Firstly, are all the computers running the same OS, and do you know if they are all under the same workgroup?

| OS means "operating system".

| You would need to check the compatibility list - your printer may not be supported by the server first. Do you have any print server model in mind?
