Mainly convince.

For example, I could be sitting downstairs [internet connection and desktop PC is upstairs] or even in the garden [well in summer!] with my laptop [which sadly is being picked up on Friday to be repaired ]. Wireless, if you set it up right, is easy, and the fastest and most convenient way of setting up a network [aside from the systems that use your house wiring to transport data]. I have never had any problems with wireless apart from a faulty router, which was replaced under the manufacturers lifetime warranty, and I was even allowed to keep the old one.

As for security - I have WPA encryption enabled, and a long password on it. But I'm not too concerned about security, as I've got nothing to hide. And because of my house's location, only one of my neighbors would be able to reach the signal.

Ok, I see, but if you are not computer savy then it might not be a good idea. Maybe if you lived in a city, or a town with lots of houses.

still safe as u should of read it dont matter what u got someone will break an enter after a said amount of time so u change the locks every so often so there attempts are useless just keep changin the access codes every so often or have mac filterin so only your puters can acces the router an network passwords are good some may see them as a challenge but if u change them they will get bored an move on to the next person who may have no security. on the hope that they come across someone that has none an steal something thats worth a little hackers are nothin but nosey neighbours lol they like nothin better than stickin ther hooters in places they think are private lol

Well, I know that people who want to send bad stuff out could use your wireless and it would look like you sent it.

cant see how they can use ya signal to send stuff out as they wouldn be able to geyt into your router to send it plus theres programs out there that tell u when some one tries to use ya router and u can exclude them/ban them but as i said before if u in a high risk area then keep changin passwords plus u could always unplug the power when u aint using it

Well, your internet is always on-line you can't turn it off, it would be as easy as just hacking someone on compufourms password then getting them banned by swearing.

Default wireless ...

Wireless IP connections are wonderful ... until you have problems.

I love wireless, but it comes at a price. For example, my wife and I enjoy sitting in bed late in the evening or early morning, all cozy under the goose comforter, and having the ability to pickup the laptop and surf the web together. Or, sitting outside with a glass of cold iced tea (with a slice of lemon of course) and read blogs or chat with friends.

However, when that wireless/network connection becomes corrupted, look out! There is often no way possible to easily diagnose and repair it without having to re-install the OS and setting it up again.

95% of my clients who bring me PC's that have wireless connection problems results in a re-installation of their OS. This is due mostly to economics ... it costs less to backup the data and reinstall an OS, than it does to spend $75.00 an hour (usually taking 3 to 6 hours) to diagnose and repair a network connection.

On a laptop, reinstallation of the OS always resolves the issue. However, on a file server or business machine that requires 24-hour operation, reinstallation of the OS is not an option and requires hours of re-programming the network configuration.

Is a wireless connection worth the hastle? In my opinion ... YES. It's advantages outweight it's disadvantages.
