Default belkin wireless router/modem

i just ordered and received my new belkin wireless ADSL router/modem!
it came with the usb dongle that was meant to come with it!
so, i went out and bought another usb dongle for the downstairs computer!
i went to plug in the router/modem, and looked at the back ports...
...there are 6 of them! 1 is power, another is the ADSL/RJ11 port (which connects too my filter (which also came with the modem/router) which then connects to my phone line thing), and lastly there are 4 LAN ports.
Now. i know how to connect the ADSL port up, and the power cable, but i have no clue what to do with the other 4 LAN ports, they look like the are meant to connect to the computer, but i don't know where!
the thing is, this is a wireless router/modem, and i thought that you wouldn't have to connect it to the computer!
WEIRD, any help would be appreciated!
thanks

The four Ethernet ports on the back of your router are completely optional and are only there if you want to connect your hardware at the full 100mbps theoretical network speed [note this will not affect your internet performance] versus the 54mbps you get on a wireless network or less.

My Belkin router only has four, but I only use one of them. However, yours will function absolutely fine without them - if you haven't set it up already though, you may need to use one temporarily as per the setup instructions.

i tried to install them...
i firstly installed the usb dongle on my upstairs PC, and all went well, it was all installed without any problems!!!
secondly, i tried to install the modem/router on the downstairs computer... i uninstalled the old speedtouch connection modem (not wireless), and it all went fine! after that, i followed the instructions that came with the new router, and then i went through some weird stages on my downstairs computer:

(1): it said that i needed to find my ISP name and password (i think), and i don't know what it is or where to find it!

(2): i had to find my VCI and VPI number, and i don't know what they are or where to find them!

(3): i went onto the http://192.168.2.1/ web thing, and it told me to enter a password. the manual said to leave it blank and click submit, so i did...

(4): shortly after, it told me to select my connection type (PPPoE/PPPoA/etc), and i don't know what it is, it says my ISP should tell me, but i don't know anything about what an ISP is!

(5): i clicked the PPPoE, and it came up with a screen that said: the following are usually provided by your ISP
user name and password and my VPI/VCI (but i don't know any of them!)

(6): well that last step is as far as i got! please help!

thanks

Your ISP is your internet service provider, the company who supply your internet access. Judging by your computer number you are with Pipex, so give them a call and they will be able to provide these details for you. They might also be in a welcome pack/letter but the best thing to do would be to phone them up.
