Talking ill probly do ya heads in

hi ive been tryin to get my laptop that seems to b running on the g band on wireless an a desk top thats running on be band accesss point is a belkin 54g i was wonderin if i can make them share files an stuff. the laptop os is xp media and the desk top is xp pro is it possible to share files over the wireless network an not just the wired computers. an if so how cos i cant seem to get em to do it. if i use the wizard it puts the info on my flash card but it wont load onto the desktop please help

Hmm... the most common problem is that the two computers are set to use a different workgroup. To check this, press the Windows Logo Key and Pause/Break, click the "Computer Name" tab then the "Change" button at the bottom-right. In the box that appears, ensure that both computers have a different host name, but the same workgroup. Save and restart both computers and try again.

right done that now they both on the same work group only prob is now i can access the lappy with the desctop if i turn zonealarm off still got nortan360 running but i cant acces the desctop with my laptop keeps tellin me i might not have permision or windows cant find the network path or maybe the computer is busy its not busy any ideas please help

strange thing it sorted its self out took a bit of jugglin with the connections its just like the desk top dint wanna connect using the belkin program but did with the windows and the same for the windows program not bein the same root as the belkin so it kept sayin path not found when i connected up using the belkin prog it worked properly with both computers. i will never understand why programmers allow programs to conflict with each other but many thanks again to ash

For added security, you may also password protect the files/folders to prevent anyone else from accessing the Shared data.

Continue learning ... I am still doing so after 10 years of PC service, day in and day out.
