Default wireless router/wireless reciever??

Ok so I have a netgear wgr614 v6 54 mpbs wireles router and a cable modem but when I hook up the wireless router it puts a firewall to the computer that the oringinal modem is hooked up to. SO thats my first problem and my second is which wireless reciver do you guys recommend for fast internet my computer will be about 30 feet away from the computer with the wireless router and modem.

this is what I got so far my friend has it and it works pretty good

1. Linksys Instant Wireless USB Network Adapter, 802.11b

VS.

2. D-Link DWL-G510 AirPlus G High Speed 2.4GHz Wireless PCI Adapter, 802.11g, b

thanks

BUT MY ONLY PROBLEM IS WHEN I hook up the wireless router to the cable modem it put a firewall on the computer that orinagally has the modem

thanks

AVOID D-LINK!!!!! go with the linksys combo. However, if you really want range, go with wireless N, it has the highest range i beleive, and highest speed. If u want to get rid of the firewall, u have to access the router. Open up your manuel, find out the address and type it into interenet explorer and u can disable it there.
