Default wireless, is this all i need?

i have bought a computer, it is decent, and it is going to be upstairs in my bedroom...
the only problem is that i don't have a network plug in there, and the closest one in downstairs in the living room! i already have one other computer in the office room (downstairs), and it has a wired speedtouch modem.

also, my internet has a maximum network speed of 8mbps, am with pipex.

now, i have been looking at some things that i can use (wireless modems, etc), and i found out that you need a modem (and a router, but all in one), and 2 usb receivers, and unfortunately, i will have to ditch the old modem.

so, here is what i shall plan on buying:
ebuyer.com - Networking » Wireless » ADSL / Broadband Modem / Routers » Product details - it is a modem/router, and it has a free usb receiver.
ebuyer.com - Networking » Wireless » USB Adapters » Product details - this is a second receiver, and it seems good enough, i think that i shall put this one on the old computer.

all that i need to know is, will this system configuration work?

please reply, as i will have to buy at the end of this month!!!

thanks

That configuration will work fine. Setting up wireless internet access is really easy, and even more so with the CD-ROM Belkin will include with your router.

You may be able to get that C&W wireless dongle cheaper elsewhere, for example eBay - any generic one will perform just fine.

maybe, but the setup still seems good... thanks

just wondering, could i get that belkin router/modem, but keep the wired speedtouch connection modem that is with the old computer.
once i would have bought the belkin wireless modem/router, i put it in the living room (plugged into a phone socket) and then i put the usb dongle on the computer in my bedroom.
will this setup work?

thanks...

This would result in two modems on the same line - which I am not sure will work. The best / cheapest option will be fitting the old computer with an internal cheap wireless radio. Plus, you will easily be able to share files between the two.
