Can you clarify what's going on? Specifically what are you experiencing? Is your computer unable to connect to the internet at all? If so, it's unlikely that the built-in firewall on the wireless router is the problem--most likely there is something wrong with the configuration of the setup. How are you connecting your cable modem to the wireless router? What is the specific brand/model number of your wireless router? What is the specific brand/model number of the cable modem? Are you using a software firewall too? Please specify these things when you post or start a new thread--it makes it much easier for us to troubleshoot what's going on.

It's unlikely that you can just plug an ethernet cable from the cable modem to the wireless router and have the wireless router work properly--the cable must be plugged into the correct port(s) on your wireless router in order for it to operate correctly and communicate with the cable modem properly, and sometimes certain settings in the wireless router must be changed for things to work properly. Take a look at the manual that should have come with it (or check the Netgear website for support material).

Secondly, and this is purely my opinion/suggestion, but can you do us a favor and please use proper punctuation in your posts--it makes it much easier to figure out what you're trying to say so that we can know what to suggest. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
