I have a computer that is 2 years old and has a wireless b/g network adapter. How can I make it connect at 54 mbps instead of 11?

Does the router have 54g?

Yes, the router is a wireless b/g router.

And, are all the other computers operating at full speed? It's likely your computer's wireless card is set to 802.11b only.

Every other wireless computer that's on the network works on 54g

It sounds like the adapter is set to operate in 802.11b mode only--you can change this in the cards settings. I'm assuming you're using windows XP. Go to the start menu, then the control panel. Open up Network Connections. Right click on your wireless adapter and select Properties. Under the General tab, click on the "Configure..." box at the upper-right of the window. The select "Advanced" in the window that appears. There should be some setting in the window that deals with the mode the adapter works in--select b/g or g instead of b. I hope that helps.

I am still having a problem. Which ever setting I put it on it still says 11 mbps.
Which on should I select.

Select 54mb Auto. Make sure you reboot after changing the setting.

That worked. Before I would change It but it wouldn't switch the speed.
Now I know that it was because I wasn't rebooting.
