| We have a wireless network and I have shared documents and so does my brothers. I hadn't done anything with the network. Then today when I tried to access a file on the network, it wouldn't let me. I cannot access any shared files on the other computers. I even tried disabling my wireless card and plugging directly into the router but it still didn't work. What is the problem with my computer? |

| Try turning off windows firewall--I've noticed that despite the fact that it's the Windows firewall, and should know that I'm using file and printer sharing, it still does not allow navigation through the network to the shared docs on other computers on my network--eventhough it may have worked before. I really detest the built-in windows firewall, but I have to admit that sometimes Zonealarm has this problem as well, though not as frequently--I have to turn protection all the way off, and then I can navigate the network completely. Then I can turn the protection back on, and I can still navigate the network. I don't know why this is, only that it works for me. The correct ports are open/enabled, so I don't understand why this is happening. Anyway, hopefully that helps.

| Hmm... could you have possibly changed the workgroup of any of these computers?

| Well, if you disabled ALL of your firewalls, then I'd recommend running windows network setup wizard on the computer that can't access the other computers. Make sure the domain you assign to that computer is the same as the other computers--the default is MSHOME. Just keep in mind that this will re-enable the windows firewall--disable it after the setup wizard finishes--hopefully that helps.

| not only that but sometimes when you setup the network it doesnt turn the option for file and printer sharing on so just click it on on BOTH of the computers when you do the network setup wizard on both of them. also you have to have both of the computers firewalls turned off. and last but not least sometimes you have to be administrator. not always but try logging on as the admin and see what happens.
