| There are very many options. I am going to assume that you are talking about what hardware you'd need, and list a few options. Crossover cable connection. This is a special ethernet cable (plugs into your network card) that allows the two computers to "talk" to each other directly. You'd need to properly set up whatever kind of networking software you use--Windows XP will help do this nicely. USB 2.0 "networking" cable--these are sold now, and are basically just a usb cable that plugs into each computer, and the computers can "talk" to each other with the software that comes with the cable. Home network: You can plug the computers into the same router via a regular ethernet cable, and they should be able to "talk" to each other with a little bit of home network setup. There are quite a few others, but nothing comes specifically to mind. I'm assuming that when you say "connect a laptop to a PC" you really just mean be able to transfer data/files. What were you planning on doing? I hope this helps.
