A few questions...

Are they all connected on a network?

Are they all running Windows? [XP?]

How many computers are there?

Have you tried using the Network Setup Wizard? [In Control panel, make sure you have set it to the "Classic" view.]

Space. Some of our users aren't that computer literate. The forum is designed for begginers and advanced people alike. Not all people will understand about domains and such, and these should only be mensioned if the question is about it. Otherwise they are most probably talking about a simplified problem. Im guessing the user wants to set up a very basic form of workgroup sharing.

It would most probs be best to post a very short how to.

Can I just ask if the question asker has any firewalling software installed? When I set up a LAN for my mate who had Norton I found it didnt work with file sharing. After reading the Norton User Manual I found that you were required to add the range of computers to the accept list. This is done with IP Addresses.

that is a fair comment robputt796 my bad

back to the question... as they others said, XP provides a simple wizard that could take care of sharing.

There is also programs out there like network magic which alows you to try it. It has a very user friendly interface. It's pretty simple you put it on both computers and decide what folders to share. It will Detect your router during the install. you can get all the details here.

Do you have file and print sharing enabled under your network connection properties?

This probably isn`t the problem, but I felt like putting it here for informational use I suppose. If you`re trying to join a domain with XP Home, you`re pretty much SOL since XP Home doesn`t support domains.
