Question Netblazer....help!!!!

Ok we have netblazer set up here at work and everything was working fine, but then on some of the laptops when the user dialed in and the after dial terminal came up and asked for their username, they would type but nothing will show up and they can't get past it, they have to type a username then hit enter and then their password but some work and some do not, (i guess you could say, it doesn't echo what is typed and i can't figure out how to make it do it again. Like i said some laptops work and some don't now. any help would be nice.

Thanks
Jason

Hi,

I am not familiar with the software you are talking about. [Netblazer]. Can you provide the link to the website?

Thankyou.

it is Telnet Netblazer, it is like a modem and my workplace that people can connect thru a telephone line to access their drives and info. at work when they are on the road. it's not software, you use dial-up connection to get into it.

I have done a search, and it seems that your software was written in 1994, meaning that it is 12 years old. You may want to consider finding a newer solution.

Anyway, the only thing I can think of right now is the laptops that are having problems logging in could be running newer versions of Terminal and can't log in. However, I am no expert on this, since I have not used dialup networking since 2004, and I only used it to connect to the internet. I am assuming you are talking about Windows Terminal here.

We are in the process of upgrading but it takes forever and some of our salespeople only have this to use. And i believe it is a form of the Terminal but you dial in thru a regular dial up connection then this after dial terminal window pops up and asks for your username and then password and that is the part where they don't see what they are typing, as far as it being newer, then why wouldn't all the new laptops not work and just some of them? I am to assume right now that it is something locally on the machines, ie. maybe the modems or a MS update maybe but can't figure it out.

Sometimes in terminal, when you type your password no charaters come up. However, they are going in. Just type the password and hit enter and it should work.

Nope, tried that and that doesn't work either, it does do that for the password of course so nobody can see it but the username is suppose to show and when it doesn't it will not take it even if you go ahead and type it in.

nothing at all, when the window pops up it has our security wording, you know, ( do not log into this is you are not aloud to blah blah blah) and the it says Netblazer login:---and this is where you type your username and it is suppose to show the username but doesn't now on some of the laptops and then if you get so lucky for it to do that it says Password:---then you type this and nothing shows for secuirty reasons and then you hit enter and then you are connected. but if nothing shows up in the Login field then it doesn't work and it is only on some of our laptops.

You may want to try this and see if it fixes it [note: You will need the XP Pro Installation Disk to do this.]

Go to Start, then Run.
Copy and paste the following code into the box and press Enter:
Code:
RUNDLL32 ADVPACK.DLL,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\communic.inf,HypertrmUninstall
This will remove HyperTerminal.

To reinstall it, enter:
Code:
RUNDLL32 ADVPACK.DLL,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\communic.inf,Hypertrm
. In the dialoge that comes up, click "Browse" and browse to the I386 directory on the install CD, and click Open.
Click OK,it should now reinstall it for you.

Let us know if this works.

Sorry that didn't work either, i don't really think it has to do with Hyperterminal though, it is all dial up and within the dial up properties under the security tab down at the bottom it says Interactive logon and scripting and then below that you can check the box for "Show terminal window".
