Vista is much more secure than XP, and has good performance, so Vista ftw.

Reasons to dislike macs: The dock is hard to use compared to the task bar in Windows/Linux.
perhaps it's the user and not the computer?

yeah, I think its just down to the user, what they like.
Windows is easy to use for people who just want to use their computer.
linux/unix are better for networking, and for more advanced things
Mac.. erm, to look good?

haha I don't know

Yes it does depend on that, but why would you like something that doesnt function correctly all the time. Why do you think some schools use MACs? Really its becuase they have less defects then PCs. Also when you want to do things with PCs there is alot more configuring with PC then MAC OS X. Also, schools use them becuase you cant get a virus on MACs. But think about it for a second...You take less time getting done with what you need to do with a computer that functions correctly 95% of the time. Use a computer that is known to have more defects to do the work you need quicker and it wont be pleasant. But just look at all the businesses out there, i have visited alot of my pops' work stations and none of them use MACs and these are bigtime computer using businesses(BlackRock, Meryll linch, Solomon smith barney, IBM, UBS) Ive been to all these and have never once seen a MAC for the exception of the Front desk. The reason is b/c windows and PCs have almost no limits on what you can do with them only if you know what you are doing. So if you arent really computer savvy, then MACs are for you. Want to explore computers and the net like never before, PCs are the way to go.
