Not to my knowledge. Not unless you buy the specific hardware that Apple provided "drivers" for. They work with a much more limited list.
You can, however, buy an apple, break some bios codes/locks and load windows.

At least that is how I understand it.

Yes you can, but it is illegal, and it can only do Tiger, not Leopard. So I would give up and just buy a Mac, they are great!

They may well have a cheaper server (in leopard server) alternative than the M$. For that reason, I'm considering getting one. Read up on them some.

Oh, and Being a PC person, that says a lot. But other than that. MAC's hardware/software was found to be comprable to PC's when you match the hardware and equivalent software. There are just fewer choices, where with PC's you get the whole gambit. Consider this.

Ford sold 1 model, in 1 color. Then the Cheverolet brothers came along and sold a model in different colors. Uncle henry (well like 4th cousin) was quoted to say " People can buy his car in any color they want, so long as it was black." The point that PC's fill in the gaps between macs is the one to consider. The people want Choice, that is a big part of why PC's have been successful.

I looked into this after using Tiger and experiencing its integrity over Windows.

From the majority of information I gathered, it doesn't seem possible. Though I've heard a few claims with some pretty advanced methods that it was possible.

When was the last time you used a Mac?

Yeah, that thing was pathetic, you wanted to shoot yourself just because you had to use one. Mac completely pulled a 180 out of their ass and I have no idea how they did it. Their new OS (Tiger/Leopard) uses a Unix base and is VERY stable and VERY easy to use. The only thing I don't like it is like the problem has always been with macs, they're VERY greedy when it comes to what kinds of stuff to use. The things that you can't do or file extensions that you can't view on a mac due to them being greedy kinda pisses me off.

I know from personal experience in using programs related to my major in mechanical engineering that having JUST a mac simply WON'T cut it, a lot of the programs only have coding for Windows, which puts linux and mac users shit outta luck. Getting a mac is fine, if you have a program like VMWare to emulate windows so you can still run some needed exectuables.

What it comes down to is mac has to stop being so greedy about "only mac applications for mac hardware" and get with the program. The only reason macs aren't more popular is because in my opinion - they're not up to par with society, regardless of how "good" they are. They're simply not up there.

Ie. doc and docx are industry standard for text, without word:mac you're shit outta luck if you need to open one of those.

Also, as I mentioned before, a lot of software on the market is produced only for windows, which creates problems for mac/linux users. At least they semi-fixed this problem with making vmware - which used to be a redhat product, work with OS X to run Windows.

I like macs a lot, but I think due to their greed, running JUST a mac is near impossible in this society unless all you do on a computer is use the web and chat and such.

When I eventually get my Mac, I'll still be dual booting Windows / Linux or getting Parallels. And with OpenOffice now Mac compatible I won't need to spend out for Office:Mac. But in a Windows world, you definatley need access to more than one OS.

That's definitely the way to go.

I might be getting a mac come spring/summer. Though the desktops run faster, they lack mobility, but I really like the laptops, so I'm stuck there, between that or building another windows PC.

But in any event, that's the way to go. If you go with a mac, get a dual boot system with XP Pro on it.

Please do not post in all caps, as it is considered yelling and rude. If you're going to be a fanboy for mac, go to an all mac forum, and don't come back. This post has no meaning and will probably make you lose CF$.

A few other ways to state the same thing:

1) Grow Up, and show some respect for others (this behavior is not typical of MAC users who can be very intelligent)
2) There are users on this board, myself included, who do not use such language. We find it offensive, and lose respect for those who do use it.
3) I am sure there are other ways to state your opinion, possibly using the formal written English language. It is a subject taught in many countries, including Russia, China, and surprisingly, America and even England!! It is a rich language with a plethora of descriptive, words which are not profane slang.

I am sure others who are better at expressing the same ideas could provide better assistance here. Till a time that it is seen fit to express your valid opinions in a manner befitting these boards, I shall add you to my block lists. Thank you for using tactlessness and lack of guile to alienate a person who was thinking very hard about purchasing a very expensive MAC.
