| Everything, of course. I am considering (after I switch jobs hopefully here very soon), to spend quite a bit of $$ on some new machines (not just 1). I want to test it and see if I like it. From what I've read, i more than likely will. I'm not big on MS price/licensing structure. and setup of some services is more than archaic and confusing. Still, I run my web server on my XP box at home, and work with 2003 server at work. I've made some apps work with IIS that would have been much easier on apache. |

| Linux/Unix/Solaris 10 are amazing operating systems, OSX coming into the Unix group, why not try one of the other OSs if you want to try serving up some web apps via apache?

| Oh, I'm a Linux user. I have a low number in the Linux counter. I've used it since the mid 90's. Not as a very powerful user... but I've used it. I preferred to use the HP-Unix that the university allowed access to back in the early 90's (I know.. where's my walker). But I also don't mind paying for some well built and supported software. I love free!!! But sometimes the turn around time on a fix is not as fast as with proprietary software. I can do what I need to do for my web server on Linux. Which is why I did it in IIS. to add to the resume. To show, I can adapt to various OS's and applications. I'm not a one-trick pony. Which is part of why I'm working on the discussion here. I know some folks will have some experience with the new server soon, and will add their input. |
