These are called reputation, and you get awarded them by other members for good posts.

I was wondering, could you make a few more in between? Like a one-hundred or something like that?

Lightbulb Gap too big

I think the gap is too big between Megabyte and Gigabyte.

With such a huge gap members may feel pressured (by oneself) to post frivolous, trivial, and shallow messages in order to get to the next level.

I also think the rating and ranking of Threads should be extended to individual POSTS, with Thread ratings. I further think that individual posts to a thread should be rated PRIOR to allowing additional posts, and that the thread itseld should require rating prior to submitting a new post to an existing thread.

If quality posts are of any value, why not allow a ranking system based upon individual ratings. If the post doesn't get rated (say ... 3 or better) the member receives no credit for the post.

This way, members will rate and rank the QUALITY of Threads andf Posts.

I can make 500 posts in one night, easily. But if they are not quality, and useless to others, who cares how many posts I've made ?????

That's a good point. I also think the gap between mb and gb is too big. I think gb should be at like 250 or somethin.

You can give reputation by hitting the button on a post that looks like a scale.

You can see the reputation you received by going to the User CP

Nope, it's impossible to give reputation to yourself.

Also everyone, look out for a thread soon asking for your input on some new ranks for the forum

Default New Ranks

New ranks would be useful ... here's a few good examples of what could be implemented.

Member Ranks such as MVP (for Quality Posts), Technician (for Certified Techs), IT-Pro (for those in IT field), Developer (for software development pros), or Member Of The Month (for top quality posts).

These could be added under the Special category (just as Moderator and Premium Member).
