 '®' In a Text Message Okay, so have you ever noticed how much room this takes up on a text message?! On my phone, i got down to 15 more characters left till the end of SMS1, then it would need to send 2 SMS's yeah? then I placed the ® symbol, and it had moved onto SMS 3! that took up a few hundred characters. I thourght it must be just my phone. But nope, tried on two other phones, and its the same. Any ideas why it takes up so much room for? This is really bugging me! Ahhhh!

| I have to admit I have never noticed this before. Perhaps its the coding used to produce the Registered trademark symbol that takes up the character space???

| The exact same thing happens on my Samsung J600... very odd indeed. The first symbol uses several hundred characters, but if I insert it again it only uses one character...

| I find this really weird. And about what Justin said, isn't it just ASCII? so surly it would only take up 1 character? hmm.. I haven't a clue. but I am determined to find out why now lol

| This could be a clue... Maximum single text message size is either 160 7-bit characters, 140 8-bit characters, or 70 16-bit characters. Special characters are usually 16 bit. It does seem strange though when the individual characters ( R ) are 7 or 8 bit on their own. Try putting a space between the characters?
