Cool general advice please

hi, just looking for some advice if poss, im currently studying a degree in it and systems practice and would like to eventually go into programming the cousre mainly envolves java and im a little confused in how the programming world works, will i need to learnn languages like c++ and vb.net, any experiences of how any of you found jobs in programming and what you learnt for it and how, much appreiciated.

Well surly if you only know Java, you could just get a jo in Java programming?

Welcome to CompuForums. It can never hurt to learn a couple of languages. You have started off well by learning java, in my experience this was one of the harder languages to learn. I would also consider learning MS VisualBasic and C# or C++ Good luck with everything and if you need any help or advice then please post and we will endeavor to help you.
