I've recently acquired a TLD and was curious to what other think about it, and maybe proivide some feedback. The name of the domain is the same as this thread title: 800-MICROSOFT.com

800-MICROSOFT is the phone number to Microsoft Corporation corporate headquarters in Redmond, WA. The domain was available for purchase, so I did. I'm considering either selling it or using it to market products.

Any feedback? What do you suppose the Domain is worth?

Do you plan on selling it to Microsoft? Maybe you can threaten to set up a porn site so Microsoft Customers might stumble upon it and think "Man...Whats up with Microsoft?". You can probably get some real cash out of it if you set your mind too it.

lol, if you visit the link 800-microsoft.com it has a Domain name for sale page on it for $100,000.00 (US) and the email for info is Microsoft_Headquarters@Yahoo.com **Microsoft will love this one im sure One thing though the name Microsoft is a registered copyrighted trademark yeah? can you actually do this without breaking any rules, im not too clued up on this but i do know you wouldnt be able to start a business called microsoft so does this mean you couldnt have a website that uses the name?? Put loads of linux stuff on the domain LOL

sounds like any of this would be extremely hard to keep in between legal limits

Cybersquatting will only lead to costly legal battles, especially with M$. The only real way to make money is to sell for say a 10 or 20% increase, and do this repeatedly. But even this is not looked highly upon. Marketing should never be considered, as this will bring down the legal eagles quicker than you can blink

I can't add porn, or links to porn sites. That would degrade the value of the domain name. However, it would be a sure way to damage Microsoft's reputation (which is something I don't want to be responsible for ... they do a good job of that on their own).

I did add links to both Linux and Firefox. GREAT SUGGESTIONS! In addition, they're appropriate.

The email address: it remains.

The price: to avoid Cybersquatting legal battles, the price has been removed and now states "Open For Proposals". If someone wants the domain, they can purchase it at a fair market value. No squatting.

Once again, thaks everyone for your suggestion, feedback and humor. We loved it.

I was not suggesting that, I was actually saying that if your gonna try and sell this site to microsoft then maybe having linux stuff under their name would make them buy it maybe rather than just having a holding page. So you think this site has gone downhill? whys that? Ive not been here long but i assume you are referring to new members or something?

ah that would explain it then. Personally i think this is one of the best forums i have come across, and im not just saying that. Its friendly and very informative. You don't need another admin Ash, you do a very good job on your own and the moderators are great too.

Agree with you here justingh.
Im only new and everyone seems nice, its really quite weird as most computer forums these days are just people showing off and boasting whos rigs are better and all that crap.
Anyway back on topic. Good domain and yes you need to put some porn on it and then advertise the sate as some awesome Microsoft info site and see what happons. hopefully you wont get caught

Well, technically if you used the domain name to damage Microsoft's business then they could sue you because they own the name "Microsoft" as a trademark.
