Exclamation Get it off your Chest.

Ok I will..............I am so sick of buying printer ink, It is such a friiiiiiiiiiickin racket, You would assume by my Visa bill that I was printing with Gold Leaf,
I'll bet somewhere there is a giant mountain of this black S#@t, with this corporate bloodsucker standing there filling this 2"x2" square container, thinking, The Little People will pay $20.00, no $40.00, wait 60.00 dollars for this he he he, And oh by the way we make pacemakers too, and the batteries are now 10,000 dollars a piece, suckers, I have an Epson R200 and when it is on sale, I can buy the printer with ink for just about the same price as buying a full load of ink, in other words they are giving you the needle you just gotta buy the stuff.......I remember about a year ago all the TV tech money people were talking about a new printer that I believe Kodak was coming out with that was going to bring the curtain down on this caper, the ink was to be less than $10.00 and all the other brands would have to follow suit or fade away....Do you see it....It's gotten awfully quiet out there, somebody may have gotten an offer they couldn't refuse................This is cruiserx and I approve of this message ................Do you have something you would like to get off your chest, if so lets hear it, I know I feel better,

the worst:
retailers like circuit city sell name brand printers like lexmark that require ink cartridges that one can only purchase at... yep, circuit city. yes, i had this experience with a lexmark printer and the manual told me that it would take a certain numbered cartridge. when i went out and bought the ink at compusa (they're going out of business and won't take returns) it didn't fit into my printer. i was told by customer support at lexmark that i could only purchase ink at circuit city as it was a "special" printer. whatevvvvver! now when circuit city goes under, i guess i'll just leave my printer in their parking lot.

Dunno what its like where you guys are but here every computer retailer seems to be giving away a FREE printer when you buy a computer off them. They are crappy printers that chew through ink cartridges - you can get them refilled for a lot less than a replacement but if you do that you void the warranty on the printer. Well, as you don't have to pay the the thing in the first place who really cares about the warranty? We only use them as backups if the network printer (a beautiful colour laser multifuction) goes down (not very often). The laser was more expensive to buy but it works out at around 0.02 cents a sheet compared with 0.09 cents for the inkjets.

someone told me that you can take your cartridges to an office supply store and have them refill it for you. sounds like a good idea.

You can take cartridges to any office supply store to have them refilled, or will some not do it for you?

You think thats bad. My mother is a photographer and goes through ink about once a week. Our printer we specially bought because of the cheap ink(about $23 USD a pop).

So can you refill the ink cartridges or not - what supplies do you need . do you have to make a mess when you do it. A penny saved is worth more than a penny earned in my book. - whats the answer ??

Yes you can, but it can be rather messy I heard, my printer is an Epson Stylus D78, 4 cartridges, 1 black, 3 colours, £4.95 each

Not in England as far as I know, there is a large Staples near me & they definitely don't, if some other branches do, it'll be that they'll only refill Staples cartridges I bet, I use JetTec, they are around 15% cheaper than Staples, a big save if you do a lot of printing, & I thoroughly recommend them!

Well

I am currently running a B&W laser printer in my house, and it is about £80 for a new toner every 7,000 pages. But its really only good for websites and text in Black and White, maybe I'll buy a colour diamond photo laser printer. Expensive, but you make back the cost in ink/toner cost tbh.
