Default new country !?!?

hi....

i am 15, and when older, i wish to move to America. i wish to do this, due to more features, more attractiveness..., more job opportunities...etc. anyway, i currently live in england, i am 15, and when i am old enough (about 16), i am gonna try to get a OK(ish) job. i will then save up, moving to different jobs for more money, until i can afford it... at which point i shall probably sell all of my home items for more money. i then will make my move to America (after of course all of the VISA and other stuff is sorted) at around 20 - 25. i will then hopefully get a job...

anyway, i need your help. i trust you people at compuforums, so i came to you. i request some recommendations... (new york, new jersey... etc) of places in America which either you live in (and you like), or that you know of, and can you tell me why you have chosen then please (good jobs, buildings, appearance, etc...), and if you have any, pictures.

thank you very much to any who help, if you need more help on the question, reply and i shall reply back to you.

P.S. so far, i like the look of new york, but i may be making a bad decision...
maybe somewhere like Florida, that looks nice, but i don't know about jobs...

thanks

I'm leaving the UK but would never go to America. Europe's where it's at
Plus as a UK Citizen you can go live and work in any EU country without a visa.

What I can tell you is don't come to Puerto Rico, the weather is way too hot, and not many jobs here, as well as a pretty bad economy.

cheers. i wasn't really thinking florida any more, my friend went, and although he said it was very nice, he said that there were too many thunderstorms... plus you say the jobs ain't excellent. cheers for the info, i was wondering, what do people think of new york, or somewhere near new york (new jersey for example), it seems to look rather nice, but i don't know about jobs.

thanks for the feedback.

P.S. i don't think I'll hint for Puerto Rico, too far from mainland America, i think it is a different island (i probably have this wrong, and look like a total idiot)

Well yeah, we are somewhat far away from the mainland. We are part of the US, but not a state, and we can't vote for the US president. There isn't much agriculture here either, so we have to import almost all our food, which means that things are expensive here.

I'm biased to Texas. But it all depends on a few things. What you want to do (work), and/or what you want to learn (school).

any good qualifications. i want to be somethin to do with computers (builder/ graphical designer...)

i in a minute, shall find Texas on the map, i was thinking new york, because of the features (statue of lib., other things...). i was also in the belief that new york would offer a fair few jobs, seen as its a BIG place.

the only problems are that... agreed, it is quite expensive. i would need a good job, or qualifications, and would probably have to live in a small sized apartment... shame, but as i got more money, i could probably afford a bigger one.

thanks guys

Austin Texas sounds nice to me, the houses are not too much (think like $100,000 for a 3 bedroom) and there are tech companies like NVIDIA there.

austin costs more than than, unless you are buying a run down house. College Station is cheaper, but on the up and up as folks move north out of Houston. I'm much more biased towards College Station, as it's a much better place, especially for school.

The Technology Corridor goes from there up through Dallas towards Oklahoma City (focusing more on Interstate-75 than on Interstate-35). You would find that the place to live is closer north towards Sherman than farther south like Dallas itself. Typical urban growth.

Also as for farther south in the corridor, you will still be north of austin, just north of Round Rock (DELL, AMD and others), Austin is still an urban center and they are VERY PROUD of their land values. One could even life a little west of austin towards Kerrville for cheaper land/homes.

And I'm well aware that some folks would capitalize austin, but I refuse

Look at a map. Texas is about the size of England. Houston is the 3rd largest city in the US, largest in land area. Large areas, Dallas, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, El Paso, Beaumont Port Arthur (with populations of greater than 1 million people).

Distances: Dallas to Denver: 800 miles, to LA, approximately 1500 miles, to NY 1800 miles. Dallas to Houston 375 miles.

Appearances... Texas contains Mountains (rocky mountain chain), plains (southern end of the Great planes), Hill country, Forests (East Texas), Beaches (Gulf Coast), Lakes (most man made lakes of any state). Desert (southern end of the rocky mountain area in far West Texas).

Universities: TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, that evil place in austin, SMU, TCU, ACU, Rice, Baylor, and numerous regional and local colleges and universities, as well as junior colleges.

not bad. unless i have other opinions, i think that i will either be going with Texas or Brooklyn.

i have been told that Brooklyn looks very nice, and it is right next to new york, which is a big plus!

thanks
