Anyways, to get back on subject... I need to know a good website that can calculate or show me the US average of what people of my level are getting paid. I do secretarial work, billing, filing, tech calls, computer repair, computer builds, computer software research, vacuum, cleaning, and baby sitting (my manager). I also get yelled at for not getting anything done when I am swamped all day and my manager is literally playing Everquest from 8 am to 3pm when he goes home. Which he always leaves at least one hour earlier than he is supposed to. Which I should be compensated like 5 bucks an hour just for dealing with that crap there.

KRUD.. now to retype this.. I accidentally left this page. First, salary calculators need to know a job title. So either you need to know what your job title is (and duties related to it) or what it SHOULD BE (based on the duties performed). Start with this: Salary - Yahoo! HotJobs Also this: Dice.com Technology Job Market- Metro Reports Q1 2007 If you are good with NAICS (formerly SIC) codes, and don't mind some database mining in DOL information, you can find a lot of data. The downside, that shows only folks who report wages to the Worker's Compensation system. It may include some IRS, but I don't know. Basically, if a person is self employed, then don't' expect to see any of their wage information there. And it could be considerably higher.

Going back to the initial question....Im amazed at the technical abilities of you guys on this forum and how little you are rewarded for it in the outside world. I work on mainframe computers as an operations analyst for a big organization but get paid in excess of £45000 a year...and thats for 9 days on, 12 days off. I think its scandalous that salaries are so low for techies like yourselves, you deserve a lot more.

Here's a Great site. Computerworld did it's annual salary survey. In it, (this link) leads to a calculator that helps you figure (based on region) if your wages are acceptable. Use it well Computerworld's Smart Salary Tool

Please realize that "the mess" that was created will be fixed after our lifetime. It will take 50 men/women's hard work to fix the chaos that one man has gotten this country into. Thanx Bush for screwing up America! |
