sahovaman is on a distinguished road
Default PC vs Laptop, Custom vs prebuilt

Right now im trying to save up for a computer and am debating many things, 1st its laptop vs. desktop. I like laptops for the mobility, and the wifi, a couple of fast food places in town have free wifi for laptops (never see anyone with a laptop in there but why not...) {and by the way right now im living in a pretty rural area, me and my family are panning to move somewhere to civilization hopefully within a year} and im not basing my decision on a burger joints internet.

but a desktop on the otherhand is more powerful for the same price, easially upgradable, and isn't that hard to lug around with you.

im thinking that i should go for a desktop right now, id love a laptop but i keep jacking the price up to where i can't reach wanting over 150 gb's in a HD, a fast processor, a lot of ram, and of course a spare battery. where as i don't have to worry about that as much with a desktop...

So if i go desktop, i look at Custom vs Prebuilt.

Ive been shopping on Newegg.com forever and i really want to stay under $1000.00 which is hard to do considering i kinda want dual core and an SLI setup, i know its possible but i can't seem to find the right combo. here are a couple of setups:

case: ASUS Vento 3600-129.99
Mobo:ASUS A8N SLI -132.99
CD Drive: ASUS Black DVD +- RW- 35.99
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 2.6- 209.00
HD: Western Digital Caviar 250GB HD- 74.99
PSU: SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 500 Watt 99.99
Ram: CORSAIR ValueSelect (2 x 512MB) 89.99
Vid Card: eVGA 256-P2-N541-T2 GeForce 7600GS 256MB 104.99

1. Case: ASUS VENTO 3600 - 129.99
2. Motherboard: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D 115.99
3. Power Supply: SILVERSTONE ST50EF-Plus 104.99
4. Processor: AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 259.00
5. Video Card: ASUS EN7600GS SILENT 136.99
6. Memory: CORSAIR XMS 2GB 230.00
7. Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE 68.99
8. CD: LITE-ON Black 16X DVD-ROM 23.99
9.Memory card: VANTEC UGT-CR900 11-in-1 14.99

i think theyre pretty good but theyre expensive. i dont have a lot of money and i work as a cashier at a department store that just went up in Lapeer. and thats only 130 a week IF IM LUCKY

ive been looking at other custom sites such as cyberpowerpc.com and ibuypower.com and they have good systems for cheaper than i can build for.

I would LOVE the satisfaction of using a pc that I made but i wouldn't like the idea of waiting another year and a half to be able to afford it and still have a little money in the bank.

Does anyone have any ideas for me?
