Hello, I am new to the forum and hopefully someone can help me with a problem I am having. I am a senior citizen but fairly computer literate but would appreciate any answer to my question be in plain english - not computer talk-lol.

I just got a new computer with Vista instead of XP. I installed MSN Messenger on the new computer but can't chat with friends as I did on my XP system. My new comp is an Acer Aspire. It tells me Windows Live Messenger 8.1 has stopped working. Went to Acer site they tell me I have to apply a patch file or Install an updated eDataSecurity etc, etc,,Why am I having this problem and is there a simpler solution. Thanks very much.
