My computer is going on eight-years-old and operates on Windows 98. I'm looking to buy a new computer but don't want to acquire more capacity and bells and whistles than I need. Bitmap-to-vector software is one program [which I now don't have] that I will want the new machine to accomodate. If possible, I plan on downloading google earth maps of my town and then creating maps of the business area and of the cemetery by tracing. The idea behind the latter is to create a site map of everyone who is interred there, especially veterans from the U.S. Civil War on through to the current conflict.

I don't know if this forum is an appropriate place to get advice on hardware requirements or program options. I'm not even sure that I will be able to figure out how to access any responses to this query. In any event, thanks in advance. I don't know what a poll, thread management, or trackback are in this context. I'll try to figure it out.
