In my opinion avast is the best free product. As far as paying for one I think kasapersky is better then Avast!, but Avast suites my needs.

Well, i really think you should stick with ESET SS since right now, it was voted the best security on the net on tons of sites. But if you are just looking for firewalls, dont bother on AntiViruse, they are a waste of time. Just go here, VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan

This is best AV you can have, they scan files with 32 Antivirus programs.
Good luck.

AVG for anti-virus hasn't let me down yet, and I also couple it with spybot search and destroy. My lappy's running smooth as day one, so I recommend it

Why not scan your AVG machine with Avast and find out how many viruses have been missed?

I did not particularly like avast when I used it. I used to use system emchanic, but dropped it when 8 came out and was much worse than 7, which was not suited for vista. Since using avg, i ahven't had a single problem. I periodically scan with other programs, and viruses don't show up.

There is a version of AVG 8 which is free. I wouldn't recommend it though, Avast is the best free Anti-Virus Software

When i had vista/xp i used ESET Nod32 and the internet security one, i found it awesome. It was small, fast and and had no unnecessary crap hanging off of it. I would stick with ESET
