Default Outlook Express photo inc: in email text

Have an email with photo as an attachment. However file has been opened and photo is displayed with text. My problem is how to get the photo into Photoshop. "save attachments" is inactive. Have managed to save complete email with photo as .eml file , but photoshop will not recognise it.

Have tried to attach a jpg file to an email myself, but when I send it the picture is opened in the text. How do you send an unopened jpg as an attachment? is this possible with Outlook Express?

Here you go this should help you
  • To save a file attachment, on the File menu, point to Save Attachments, and then click the file name. To save the attachment from the preview pane, click the paper clip icon, and then select Save Attachments.

Hi Mr Pickle ,..I am still in a pickle. What you say has always worked for me in the past. But not now.

The email I have received has a photo attached (paper clip), but it is already open in the text area.
When i click on 'the clip' the File name comes up OK as STUDIO.JPG (653Kb) with Save attachments below it. However all this display is in light grey and inactive.

If I go to File Menue 'Save attachment' is also showing in light grey and is inactive.

If I send an email with photo as an attachment ,looks fine, until i send it. However arrives with photo embedded in text area.

Can you right click on the picture in the text and 'save as'? As a last resort you could take a screen shot with the pic showing and then open it in a paint or photo program and crop it back to the photo

Thanks for your suggestion.. R/T klick and save works like a charm and file opened OK in photoshop.

Would still like to find out why file is being opened and how to change setting if it is possible.

Thanks to all for suggestions

I would turn the preview pane off. Viruses come in email and usually come with names of friends or people you know. If it is first in the list it is already open and too late. Do what Debian recomended in the first reply.

That is why it is important to have an Antivirus program that interfaces with your Outlook.
